With yet another day of not reacing my goal for the day, I can at least call on the victory of finishing chapter four. I tied together the interaction between Joar and Aegir and it is probably time to have them join up with the two remaining party members. I also had Karsten leave the Frozen Maid with a little interaction with Beata. Now a few scenes will follow where Karsten attempts to convince his posse to follow him.
With that being said let us delve into one of the groups within this world.
The Kingdom of Allard, being an ancient kingdom, is divided into various groups with various responisbilities. As mentioned before it is firstly split into frelsi and ofrelsi, nobles spared from taxes and commoners. This makes up the base for the pyramid structure that governs the kingdom, a structure of duties and responsibilities that the inhabitants are well aware of and refer to. In this structure, we find the groups, named after colors and shapes. Most are born into the groups due to the innate abilities they are born with. This is often due to heritage and ethnicity.
The Bluecrosses can be seen as the religious leaders in Allard. They serve as priests, but also scientists and mages. Some of them don't have any magical abilities of their own but are able to manipulate other magical creatures or conjure spells through arcane plants. In the prelude we see Kari, a bluecross, use tomtar, small magical creatures, as the origin of magical flames. The bluecrosses are the keepers of the history of the kingdom and act as teachers in schools and lead sermons in temples. They are led by the Piispa, a form of pope who is also part of the King's privy council together with the drots and marsk.
The bluecrosses do not marry, but they are not celibate since it would go against the law of making more bluecrosses.
Tomorrow chapter five will begin and more about the conflict between Drosboe and the nobles.
