So I decided to once again attempt Camp NaNoWriMo. I know it comes around quite often, but for me it feels like a great vehicle to get a novel finished. For Pike Lake I have set a random goal of 70.000 words and I am now sitting at close to 22.000 of them. It is maybe not where I truly want to be at this point, but I am working in a very differnet way and in a different genre than I'm used to. With those things considered I think I'm doing quite well. It is becoming increasingly obvious that there will be quite a bit of editing needed in the end. One of the reasons is also because I am not certain how the main antagonist will fit into the grand scheme of things. I have been looking more towards Ramsey Campbell and Micheal Shea for this story than Lovecraft, which was the initial idea. Even August Derleth gets a bit of a shout out.
