Poorly done photoshop promo aside, here is another update for Turn With the Wind, my new fantasy book.
Now that the prelude is complete I decided to embark on the first chapter of one of the main stories. This was to set up Karsten Kolhester and his search for the person who killed his wife and child. Although today I didn't introduce him, instead I spent more time in the tavern The Frozen Mare, located in the north country. Its winter and the locals survive on what they can catch while ice fishing. Beata runs the tavern, something she acquired together with her partner Thorsten several years before. The interesting thing here is that Beata was intended as a character that Karsten only briefly talks to before heading south, but her background and interaction with the obnoxious Kok cousins intrigued me and made her a vessel for some world buidling.
I established that she used to walk The Trail, a term the characters in this world use for adventurers, andit will be revealed in this first chapter that she is a Death Dealer and might know something of the Wanderer, but more of that later.
To sum up, I have come tod enjoy the character of Beata, and might have to use her later in the novel for something else.
Now enter Karsten Kolhester...
